ImagingUSA Recap
ImagingUSA 2012. What can I say? It was awesome! It was fun! It was amazing!
But more than that, ImagingUSA was a first for all of us at Black River Imaging. And what a first it was! For Jason (head of our customer service department) and his wife, Aurelia Stratton, it was their first trip to NOLA. Rowena Raborar, BRI’s Creative Director, had her first authentic Gin Fizz at The Roosevelt Hotel. For me, I had bread pudding with a whiskey sauce for the first time!
But what made this trip to NOLA even more special was the opportunity to meet online friends in person for the first time, see the direction the industry is heading, and the opportunity to share ideas one on one with all of you.
Was ImagingUSA your first Imaging? Was eating begient’s at midnight in the French Quarter a first for you? What experience did you have at ImagingUSA for the first time? How did attending ImagingUSA change your business?

Meet Our WPPI Speakers: Part 1
Dixie loves to make beautiful photographs and it shows. She’s the 2006 FujiFilm Contest Winner, 2007 Hy Sheanin Int’l Emerging Photographer of the Year and has won the Accolade of Excellence in WPPI 8×10 Print Competition.
Her clients include Professional Photographers Magazine, Rangefinder Magazine, Living Magazine, HDNet TV, MAV TV, Florsheim Shoes, BVK Ad Agency, Meregrass Jets, Garland Drake Int’l, Darian Thomas, Morton’s Steakhouse, Jack Ingram, and more.
Dixie has studied under World-Renowned Fashion Photographer, Jeff Licata, who has shot iconic campaigns for clients such as Valentino, Armani, and Calvin Klein which have appeared in publications including Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair, and W to name a few. She has also assisted Celebrity Beauty Photographer, Matthew Jordan Smith, who is known for his work with clients such as Tyra Banks, Britney Spears and America’s Next Top Model as well as beauty brands such as Loreal, Revlon, and Olay.

The Gene Ho story begins as a young 22-year-old man who picked up a camera and fell in love with taking pictures.
The year was 1991 and it was way before the days of digital. At the time, there were few 22-year-old wedding photographers out there, but he became a success by marketing himself as “The Friend of the Bride.”
Gene created a makeshift marketing campaign where he billed himself as “cool” enough to be fun and creative and “mature” enough to get the job done.
Today Gene Ho Photography has 25 photographers that work in 8 different cities around the nation. His studio has photographed some of the nation’s top celebrities in sports, politics and the arts.
Gene has written two books sharing his knowledge of marketing for the Photographer: The Art of Marketing for Professional Photographers and The Wedding Photographer’s Handbook: a guide to modern wedding photography.
